80’s thrash metal heavy weights Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies and Exodus have teamed up to go on tour across the U.S.A. and played to a sold out crowd at The Forum in Inglewood, California on November 14, 2014. Unfortunately, we arrived late to the venue due to L.A. Traffic and missed Exodus’ very short 6 song set.
Suicidal Tendencies hit the stage with You ‘Can’t Bring Me Down’ and kicked ass on a set that included ‘I Saw Your Mommy,’ ‘War Inside My Head,’ ‘Possessed to Skate’ and ‘Cyco Vision.’ Missing from the set list was ‘Institutionalized.’ As always singer Mike Muir was all over the stage getting the fans fired up and guitarist Dean Pleasants and Nico Santora sounded great splitting guitar solos. Even though S.T. only played 8 songs, it was a kick ass hometown show!
Headliner Slayer opened their hour and a half set with ‘World Painted Blood.’ Tom Araya sounded fantastic and for a few seconds during the show, was all smiles and headbanging, something he has not done in a very long time live because of nagging back and neck issues he suffered four years ago. Kerry King, Gary Holt and Drummer Paul Bostaph blasted through the classics, including ‘Chemical Warfare,’ ‘Hell Awaits,’ ‘Die by the sword,’ and ‘Angel of Death,’ in which Slayer pays tribute to fallen brother Jeff Hanneman with a huge back drop of the Heineken Beer logo.
Big thanks to Heidi at HERFitz PR for making this happen for METAL SHOP. Here are a few photos and video of the entire show. -Ralph
