Over the last few months heavy metal legends Slayer have been really busy. They have a new record out, “Repentless,” they have been touring North America and Europe, shooting great videos and now a new Slayer comic book will be released in October.
In celebration of the new comic book, Slayer performed at the House of Blues in San Diego, California to take over Comic-Con on Thursday, July 21, 2016.
Slayer opened with ‘Repentless, ‘Disciple’ and ‘Postmortem.’ As the photographers were being led away from the photographers pit, I noticed that the band had stopped playing for a few minutes. It turned out that a fan (if you want to call him that), decided to spit on singer Tom Araya. Tom took exception to that and called the guy out. Araya kept asking “what was that about and why?” Security was called in and the guy was kicked out.
The show continued with Slayer blasting through ‘Hate Worldwide,’ ‘War Ensemble’ and ‘Mandatory Suicide,’ then the show stopped for a second time. I had no idea what was going on though… nobody was on stage and people were left scratching their heads. A few minutes later Araya came out and asked why someone would buy a ticket to a concert and cause problems to get thrown out it… seems to me that a second person was actually thrown out of the show that was causing a disturbance.
Slayer then continued on with ‘Seasons in the Abyss,’ ‘South of Heaven,’ ‘Reigning Blood’ and ‘Angel of Death.’ The pits at the show were insane and the the sold out crowd loved it. It was a kick ass show and I look forward to the comic book. -Ralph
